We are hiring Mandarin Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. This role provides real-time telephonic interpretation between Mandarin and English during immigration interviews, hearings, and related proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and impartial Mandarin ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Adhere to USCIS/DHS security and compliance protocols.
  • Handle scheduled assignments as well as urgent requests.
  • Participate in training and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, medical, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics and standards (NCIHC, ATA, or RID).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
