We are seeking Haitian Creole Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Haitian Creole is a core USCIS demand language, critical for asylum and immigration cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Haitian Creole ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS compliance standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
  • Participate in required training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Haitian Creole and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards (NCIHC, ATA, RID).
  • Excellent verbal communication and cultural competency.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
