We are seeking Pulaar Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Pulaar, a Fula/Fulani language spoken in West Africa, is a rare language of interest for asylum and immigration cases, requiring accuracy, cultural understanding, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Pulaar ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Deliver services with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Pulaar and English.
  • 2+ years of interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards.
  • Strong telephone communication and cultural competency skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
