We are seeking Quechua Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Quechua, spoken by millions across the Andes (Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina), is a rare but high-priority indigenous language often needed in asylum and immigration interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Quechua ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration, legal, and asylum contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality in compliance with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Quechua (any dialect) and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, or government strongly preferred).
  • Deep cultural knowledge of Andean indigenous communities.
  • Strong grasp of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
