We are seeking Quichua (Chimborazo Highland Dialect) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Quichua, part of the Quechuan indigenous language family, is spoken in Ecuador’s Chimborazo highlands and is a rare, high-demand language often needed in asylum and immigration interviews.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Quichua (Chimborazo) ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration and asylum contexts.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Quichua (Chimborazo Highland Dialect) and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, or government strongly preferred).
- Deep cultural familiarity with Andean indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and accuracy standards.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
