We are seeking Kyrgyz (Kyrgyzstani) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kyrgyz, a Turkic language spoken in Kyrgyzstan and across Central Asia, is a rare but critical language often needed for asylum, refugee, and immigration interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Kyrgyz ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Deliver interpretation with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.
  • Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards.
  • Manage both scheduled and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Kyrgyz and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, legal, NGO, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to stay accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
